Events Management Certificate (Online)

Bow Valley College’s Events Management Certificate is now available online. These courses offer the flexibility to study at home. As you work through a course, your instructor will be available to answer questions, explain concepts, and provide support and feedback through email, fax or phone. This is a part-time certificate and will take a minimum of two years to complete. There are a total of 13 required courses.

Admission Requirements

Academic Requirements

• Minimum final mark of 60% in English 20-1 or credit in English 30-2 or equivalent
• Minimum final mark of 60% in Applied or Pure Math 10 or equivalent (excluding the 10-4 and 16 levels)
OR:
• Successful completion of the General Equivalency Development test (GED) with a standard score of 520 in Language Arts: Reading and Writing and 450 in Math
OR:
• Satisfactory results on the BVC Admissions Test

English Language Proficiency Requirement
Applicants whose first language is NOT English must demonstrate ONE of the following:

• Achievement of a valid TOEFL score of 527 - 530 on the paper-based test or a score of 71 on the internet-based test (iBT)
• Achievement of a valid Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with an overall band score of 5.5
• Complete the Bow Valley College EAP program with a grade of “B”
• Transcripts demonstrating successful completion of three years of full-time secondary education at a school where English was the language of instruction
• Transcripts demonstrating successful completion of one year of full-time post-secondary education at a school where English was the language of instruction
• Where applicable, a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) standard as determined by the Career program
• Successful completion of an Alberta Education English Language Arts (ELA) course that is consistent with the specified academic admission requirements for the program
• Satisfactory results on the BVC Admissions test

Transferability
Graduates of this program may be accepted into:

• Bow Valley College - Events Management Certificate transfers to Events Management Diploma

Some transfer credits are available to:

• Thompson Rivers University - Bachelor of Tourism Management Degree
• Alberta Tourism Human Resource Council (ATEC ) - Students may write the ATEC certification exam.
Some transfer credit is available from:
• St. Mary’s University College
• Grand Prairie Regional College
• College of the Caribou

Note: Registration into the online Courses of Administrative Professional can be completed through eCampusAlberta.ca.
Students who are not able to access Bow Valley College for testing must choose a partner college that will provide testing services to them during the course of study.
